Police try to manage the July 2006 ride of London's Critical Mass.
Having won its court case against the police, London CM is now being subjected by the cycle cops to barricading and cars being allowed to nose into the ride. This had the effect of slowing down the Mass and causing fragmentation as well as extra traffic congestion. Towards the end of the ride a cyclist is accused of denting the fragile wing of a London taxi with his hand and a policeman takes his particulars.
Camp for Climate Action is happening in yorkshire, 26/8 - 4/9.
The camp will be a mix of workshops, meetings, socialising, information sharing and action. It will be a place that encourages discussion on what we are faced with, what the alternatives are, how we can achieve them and the diversity of tactics and action we will need to get there. The camp will also facilitate direct action against some of key sections of the fossil fuel economy.
Yesterday evening Manchester cyclists held a protest bicycle carnival in solidarity with anti G8 protesters in Russia. This was part of a global protest against the G8 meeting in Moscow this weekend called for by the Peoples Global Action (PGA). The 3 main themes of the G8 summit this year are Energy security, education and aids/health care.
‘A protest camp has been established at the Hill of Tara, County Meath, Ireland, to oppose the monstrous M3 Motorway project due to begin this year…
Protesters have been camped in Tara since the solstice. For the time being the camp is situated near the hill down into the woods. Campers have kept a flame burning since the solstice and intend to keep it burning until the 2nd of August, which is Lammas. They will then relocate to a new location directly affected by the proposed motorway.
Cyclists fight back against Bristol's car culture by altering an advert near Temple meads.
Activists in Bristol have taken a stand against the proliferation of adverts around the city depicting the supposed joys of motoring. One such billboard near Temple Meads has been altered to display the pleasures of cycling.
Sick of your exercise bike that goes nowhere? Ride a bike but don’t look like a lycra-clad budget superhero? Sick of nearly getting run over by buses and taxis? Come celebrate our greener and greater method of transport at the monthly Critical Mass bike ride this Friday, 7th July at 6pm outside St. Philips cathedral.
This week London Critical Mass cyclists won a high court decision against the Metropolitan Police over the legality of the peddle-powered demonstrations.
This comes after police handed leaflets to cyclists at a Critical Mass last September claiming that they were unlawful because under the Public Order Act the organisers were required to give six days notice of the date and proposed route, plus their names and addresses. However Lord Justice Sedley and Mr Justice Gray ruled that police were misinterpreting the law, and that no advanced notice was required because Critical Mass was not a ‘notifiable procession’ under the POA.

CHRISTIANITY HELPED TO CREATE CAPITALISM...NOW IT MUST DESTROY IT!
Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming upon you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. You have condemned and murdered innocent men, who were not opposing you. (James 5:1-6)

pun intended. the outcome of the court case is now known, but we must maintain pressure
With the unfortunate (but not entirely unexpected) outcome of the court case now known, we must take a moment to consider the direction our future protest will take.
