Earth First! Winter Moot, what to expect

This years Earth First! Winter Moot takes place in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. In a months time environmentalists from across the UK and beyond will converge to discuss and debate. Below is an update from the organising collective who are working on the program.

Actions against this year's 6th biennial DSEi Arms Fair at the ExCel Centre in London's Docklands kicked off last week in the run up to the event. This week's resistance began with a candlelit vigil on Monday night followed by a day of action of Tuesday, dawning to reveal a subvertised billboard as well as a huge 'Destroy DSEi' banner hung between cranes.

Three Cellphone antennas destroyed

Over the past three week three mobile phone antennas have been destroyed by fire in the Nottingham area. In each instance the action was performed with fervour and carried out in anger at the capitalist culture. A culture which seeks to dominate its surroundings in order to increase it's power over it's inhabitants.

UK arrests & raids, possibly climate action related

At lunchtime on Wednesday 26th May two addresses in Belper, Derbyshire, were raided by the North Yorkshire Counter Terrorist Unit.

Manchester anti-arms-trade activities

On 17th January 2009, as the bombs rained down on Gaza, six people entered the EDO factory in Brighton, which makes parts for weapons that have been used against the people if Iraq, Afganistan and Palestine. They threw computers and filing cabinets out of the first floor window and took hammers to machinery used for weapons production.
