The eviction of St Agnes Place in Kennington (South London) by Lambeth Council started today in earnest. The oldest squatted street in London has been swarmed with riot police all day, as residents were resisting the bailiffs and specialist climbers were trying to empty the street of its community set up 30 years ago. Throughout the day there have also been reports of police stopping people on their way to show support to St Agnes Place community outside Oval, Kennington, Stockwell and Brixton tubes. Later in the evening there was a demonstration outside Lambeth Town Hall in Brixton.

At 8am this morning 30 campaigners from NAIL protested outside the Environment Agencies offices on Scarrington Road, off Ladybay Bridge. We greeted the employees of the EA as they arrived for work, we handed them flyers, waved banners and placards and delivered them a letter.

in november 1995, nigerian writer and activist, ken saro-wiwa, and 8 of his colleagues were executed by the military regime for campaigning against the devastation of the niger delta by oil multi-national shell. yesterday, demonstrators dropped nine nooses infront of the shell uk headquarters on the south bank to highlight the anniversary and highlight the current struggle on the north west of ireland, where shell is set to transform a remote conservation area into an environmental disaster zone with public health and safety implications.

Some folks got together today in Aberdeen to stand with the Ogoni people in remembering Ken Saro-Wiwa and his eight Ogoni colleagues who were executed by the Nigerian state for campaigning against the devastation of the Niger Delta by oil companies, especially $hell and Chevron. $hell was in court today, Aberdeen Sheriff Court in perhaps the most important fatal accident inquiry for the industry since the Piper Alpha disaster. They have admitted that their failures led to the deaths of two workers on one of its platforms.

10 peace campaigners were arrested at Rolls Royce Raynesway in Derby this morning whilst attempting to shut down the factory with a non-violent blockade. 40 activists congregated in spite of heavy rain, two section 14 orders and an extraordinarily heavy police presence. They were attempting to uphold international law by closing the factory for the day. Rolls Royce Raynesway makes the nuclear engines for Britain’s illegal nuclear weapons system Trident, and is essential for its deployment.

Insurgents Occupy Military Communications Mast in Berkshire

Two insurgents have scaled a communications mast at a military fuel storage and distribution hub at Padworth Common in Berkshire and are intending to disable the mast in an effort to disrupt and prevent fuel distribution to the UK’s nuclear weapons factory at Aldermaston and all United States military bases in the UK.
